Clothing Center

Portland Council operates the PTA Clothing Center to assist students at Portland Public Schools with clothing needs.  Over 2000 students were served last school year.  All work is performed by volunteers and with generous donor assistance.

Largest School Bond in state history is passed in Portland (May 2017): ​Portland Council PTA participated in the Bond Stakeholders Advisory Group and the 2017 Bond Campaign. We are thrilled that voters came out to support and invest in the health and safety of our schools. Read more here.

New Report shows Oregon schools falling behind: Over the course of the last two decades investment in Oregon’s public schools has declined to a point where independent rankings place Oregon schools near the bottom in the nation for school funding. National PTA and Education News:

  • President Trump signed a spending bill that funds federal programs and services through September 2017. The bill cuts overall funding for education by $1 billion and does not include funding for the Statewide Family Engagement Centers (SFECs) program. Read more.
  • National PTA's Commitment to Positive, Safe Environments for All Students: Bullying in schools can prevent many students from reaching their full potential. National PTA® offers resources to help students, parents and educators prevent bullying behavior and create positive and safe school environments with supportive, inclusive peer relationships.   • National PTA Commends House Passage of Supporting Youth Opportunity and Preventing Delinquency Act​​: The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Supporting Youth Opportunity and Preventing Delinquency Act, which would reauthorize the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) and strengthen the nation’s juvenile justice system. National PTA issued this statement on the passage of the bill. Read more HERE. 
  • National PTA and Mountain America Credit Union Team Up to Help Families Achieve Their Financial Dreams- National PTA is pleased to announce that Mountain America Credit Union has become the association’s newest Member Benefit Provider. Through the alliance, all PTA members can join Mountain America Credit Union. The credit union is also offering PTA members and PTAs a cash incentive when they open an account. Read more HERE

Local Unit

Support

Portland Council works to provide training and assistance to Region 2 PTA's and their leaders.  Strong and confident leaders make strong PTA's.  Find resources to assist you in leading your local unit. 

Student Aid Fund

Portland Council operates the Student Aid Fund to assist Portland Public School students with eyeglasses, shoes and other clothing items that cannot be found at the Clothing Center.
